Col Vetoraz just left behind a climatically complex harvest, leaving anyway encouraging prospects

'Since generally the most articulated situations always generate great satisfactions, Col Vetoraz expects significant results from the 2019 grape harvest - explains Loris Dall'Acqua, partner and winemaker of the company - A productive complexity that this year has already been highlighted starting from flowering of the vine, which occurred not in May, as usual, but in a slightly late period around mid-June'.

"We decided to start the harvest towards the end of September, waiting for the right balance in the ripeness of the grapes to favor the best aromatic expression. The vegetative growth was characterized by balanced tones, culminating in the last period of August when the good temperature changes gave acidity and translucency to the berries. In conclusion, we are confident because the wines born from this harvest are giving us excellent expectations."

Globally observed, among the various areas of the Conegliano Valdobbiadene appellation, the harvest 2019 as been outlined by extremely different traits. The extensive hailstorm of April 26th, which affected almost entirely the foothills, caused an important lowering of production, even if the remaining bunches were able to concentrate more taste, flavor and structure. The entire northern range of the appellation had a delayed maturation, this allowed the vine to benefit from the lowering of temperatures - above all at night - in September, favoring aromatic preservation and acid balance. The central and southern areas of the appellation had a fair production. Here the harvest took place after the first ten days of September with beautiful grapes and good sugar concentration. The 2019 vintage will certainly be remembered for the low production of some areas, but probably also for the quality.
