Col Vetoraz 2017 harvest report

The 2017 Col Vetoraz grape harvest has ended and the company is making the point of a vintage that will be remembered as particularly complex.

We all remember the early spring, which led to an unexpected sprouting, and which resulted in frost damage in the vineyards outside the vineyard area. But it is equally well-known that the next return to normal temperatures caused a flowering delay and allowed the entry into the normal harvest period times.

The seasonal pattern was then characterized by a succession of periods with abnormal heat at fairly regular intervals of rainfall. This allowed the plants to never go into water suffering, but instead they showed a heat-pain. Towards the harvest period there was a decrease in temperature followed by some rains, conditions that have helped keep the acid balance.

"In this scenario - says the oenologist and partner Loris Dall'Acqua - Col Vetoraz has been able to select the grapes at harvest time carefully considering the source and destination of each parcel and ultimately achieving a globally high quality good level."
