In winter Col Vetoraz celebrates the time of rest, necessary for the soil to prepare for spring awakening. This winter, some snowy days meant much more than the views of the vineyards dressed in white, because they made the territory relive a usual condition. The earth suspends the vegetative cycle and rests: a necessary time for the plant, because allows it to collect all the energies useful for developing the first buds; a process that takes place without the help of man, mother nature does everything.
‚In winter, the vine goes through a necessary period of hibernation – explains the CEO and winemaker Loris Dall’Acqua – the plant in fact asks to be left undisturbed, a necessary wait to prepare for the spring awakening. The presence of snow is a favorable element, the snow layer, especially if consistent, acts as a protective shield and the earth, in this period of rest, can maintain its fertility. „ A vigilant slowness, suitable for the delicate and important pruning work that balances the vine and prepares the soil for the new plants. At Col Vetoraz, these weeks are managed with care and with a focus on new vintages and a new seasonal cycle, in order to prepare to make a difference, in the name of excellence.
