The hills of Conegliano-Valdobbiadene proclaimed UNESCO World Heritage Site

A territory to protect, preserve and handed down to future generations for the world cultural heritage of exceptional universal value.

Col Vetoraz Spumanti joins the joy and satisfaction brought by the official proclamation of the Prosecco Hills of Conegliano and Valdobbiadene to "World Heritage", as decreed on 7th July by the UNESCO assembly meeting held in Baku in Azerbaijan.

Our hills represent the 55th Italian site to be protected for the uniqueness of its cultural landscape. A process that lasted over ten years, a long path not without difficulties, which eventually hit the target thanks to an incessant teamwork led by the Governor of the Veneto Region Luca Zaia. "A goal - as Innocente Nardi, president of the Consortium for the Protection of Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco DOCG, pointed out - that does not want to represent the point of arrival, but an important step in a process that aims to enhance the cultural, artistic and agricultural heritage present in this small territory, known for its main product, the Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG ".

The UNESCO name was assigned to an area shaped by the work of man, which over the centuries has been able to draw the plot of an enchanted landscape, where history, culture, traditions, climate and land merge, giving the territory its full meaning.

"In 1838 - commented Loris Dall'Acqua, partner and oenologist of Col Vetoraz - the ancestors of the founding family, the Miottos', settled here developing vine cultivation, sensing even then with foresight the strength inherent in the viticulture of these wonderful hills. Later with courage and with the typical stubbornness of the people who have deep roots, they were able to face the terrible days of post-war reconstruction. Our task today is to find and preserve these precious roots».

We producers, like the generations that preceded us, have never stopped believing in the uniqueness of this landscape, dedicating a constant care and attention, passion, effort. It is thanks to the time spent in the vineyard to forge the characteristic "ciglioni" and terraces, distinctive elements of viticulture in this land that today everyone can admire, that we have managed to achieve the coveted Unesco recognition.

Starting from today our the primary task will consist in the conservation and maintenance of the landscape assets registered, enhancing them in favor of future generations, in line with the objective of harmonious economic and social development, a sustainable approach and a balanced increase in territorial tourism.
